How to measure your hat size

Please note this is a general guide as different head shapes may also affect your hat size and it can also depend on where the hat sits on your head and the style of the hat too.

If a hat is too small, it will sit too high up on your head so if you are in-between sizes, it's generally best to go up a size and add some hat padding. Some hats have a sweatband that you can place padding under to help it fit a bit tighter.

We sell hat adjuster pads which can be found here if your hat is a little loose and has a sweatband.

Small size

I have a small head and can wear children’s sizes sometimes. However this hat was too small for me, also not as good a quality as I expected from Cotswold. Disappointing and have returned.

Very small

I really liked the hat, just the style I wanted with the ears being covered and the quality was good. However the hat was tiny, I have a small head, even measured using the size guide before I purchased, but the hat barely fits on my head so I am returning it. Such a pity it isn’t available in a bigger size.

We have looked into this and we have now changed the product description as all the ones we currently have left in stock are coming up small. Sorry we are unable to exchange this style for you.
